THANKS, YOU

Thanks for being here,

I hope you find enjoyment.

However relatable or not

To you,

There is always something to take.

Dont force anything though,

Youll find resentment

In forced actions,

I hope it will happen naturally for you.

I write in a linear way,

Youll see that.

I hope that makes it easier

To make your personal connection.

So,

Please,

Bring your masses and associate yourself,

Were not going to create any antiques

But I hope that we can have some fun together.

This is an abridged telling of my last few years,

I try to write to reflect,

I’m still not sure what to think.

IN THE BEGINNING

I’ve started writing.

It all started when my girlfriend

Found a piece of folded paper

In my trash can.

Written on that piece of paper was

A sentence.

The desperate turtle wandered towards the ocean across the hot sand.

Thats a good sentence,

She said,

I couldnt write a sentence like that,

She continued.

Thanks,

I said.

I’ve never considered

Myself

Creative,

Always reserving acclaim for

The brilliant storytellers.

My stories are always jumbled

And

Dont make sense,

Even if rehearsed before their telling.

So I am not much of a storyteller,

And because of this,

I listen.

And so I did what I

Always do,

I listened

And

Now Im telling that story.

Writing.

The turtle doesnt find resolution.

THIS MUST BE WHY PEOPLE HAVE FAITH

God,

I want it to work so badly.

I’m so tired of struggling,

I want to lay back and let it come.

Loving you as I do,

I want a backbone.

I want to rest my latissimus dorsi.

Fuck,

I’m trying too hard again.

Its like a hedge maze at Halloween,

You know youll get spooked around that corner there

But youve got to look to make it through.

THESE SHACKLES AREN’T SO BAD

The quantity of our courtship

Was really quite small,

Filling just enough headspace.

And yet,

Despite our shortcomings,

We fill the room.

When our happiness is unequivocal,

My joy works.

When my heart works and my head doesn’t,

It flows.

I denounce companions,

Even when I hate you,

Because I follow it.

It's like a vacuum,

And I ask myself,

How do I make it shine?

That light there,

How do I make it as bright as possible so Alaska cant sleep?

See,

Youve lent your microscope and tool belt.

Tinkering, ever tinkering,

With a loupe you play the role of watchmaker.

It's expensive for your customers, but you're the best.

And now the abyss has light,

Without suction we live.

The path points both east and west, it is after all, circular.

It's faint but visible

And it's our job to find the heart.

YOU’RE STIFLING PROGRESS (PREACHY)

We want the world to care.

You know your set point,

That point you're around

Most times.

That point of feeling nothing.

Deviated from that?

Think something through,

Talk to yourself,

Anything.

Your body just gave you a cool opportunity of a new perspective.

Now: write, listen, speak, dance.

It'll come out as an interpretive piece of beauty,

With enough nuance in this world,

We can find beauty in anything.

Or dont, who the fuck am I to give advice?

LOOK JUST ABOVE MY EYEBROWS

Smile at me again,

Bob your knees and smirk,

Squint your eyes

While you do it.

Wear glasses,

Opaque frames would be great.

Hover just below my nose

At an arms reach.

My arms,

Not yours.

Yours would put you too close to me,

I want a full view devoid of periphery.

I want to take it all in.

Fuck you're cute.

I CALLED IT AN ODE BECAUSE I DIDN’T KNOW HOW TO SPELL LYMRICK

Yeah bitch,

Cash bitch,

Give me all your money bitch.

You don't deserve it,

I earned it.

PEACOKING

I've got a new opener,

I get her attention and apply some hand sanitizer,

I convey safety without being lewd.

If she likes it,

I'll approach.

I try to be good looking in everything I do.

I litter extra large condoms

Around my car and on the sidewalk

In front of my apartment.

My best foot forward is clear skin,

Dont touch my face,

Except during foreplay,

But even then, ask.
