DEAR READER

Living close to the county of Northumberland, I am very fortunate to be blessed with vast expanses of beautiful countryside, stunning uplands and glorious sandy beaches, which enables me to embrace all of the beauty that the changing seasons bring.

The new beginnings of spring bring new life, hope and joy, as Mother Nature slowly unfurls from the depth of winter.

Summer days, long and lazy spent walking through wild flower meadows, alive with the buzzing of bees and fluttering butterflies, whilst being serenaded by the sweet melody of birdsong, and climbing the surrounding hills through swaths of blooming heather.

Autumn, arguably the most stunning season of all, when Mother Nature starts to bed down to rebuild her energy for the coming spring. Leaves tumble from trees, carpeting the floor below, and animals and birds take advantage of the country store provided for them to prepare for hibernation and the winter months to come.

And winter, when the world becomes a place of chilly mornings, Jack Frost, icicles and beautiful snowflakes made from intricate ice crystals, creating a mystical winter wonderland.

Each season teaches us many things, and delivers inspiration and a different message each time.

I hope that the verses in this book capture the essence of each moment that I have experienced in my beautiful homeland for you, and that you too can enjoy the beauty of each season with me.

Thank you

Christine E Irving
