[Introduction]

I measure the reversed hymns I never can sing in words and MHz. These MHz reverberate through the cells of my mind, mimicking the rust and grime of abandoned warehouses, the chill of old metal, and ambient white noise left behind by machines that will never run again.

Sometimes, when left completely to their own devices, a discarded machine by sheer force of will may grow their own biologic systems –trying to meld with the natural world that inevitably seeps in everywhere, but always a little too conspicuous. Man-made abandonment that longs to blend into creation is an eternal, unnatural presence that never wears its beauty without deep dejection. MHz was born from it.

I wrote MHz and the later haiku compilation, Medical Heaven at the same time. They are very much twins who oppose each other’s anatomy and ideals. MHz is calculated and masculine, in a robotic sense. Its emotions are incomplete. Though it understands the thriving life surrounding it, it only does so by dissecting it coldly. Medical Heaven, on the other hand, let this life flow freely from its pores, reveling in blood, sweat and oil. MHz has an industrial soul for what it is – there is always motion and noise, though an actual sense of humanity slips through its fingers. It dreams of them but burns them in its grasp with radioactive hands.

[MHz]

1-----

Abandoned my home
Of ephemeral glitches,
Haunted by psyche

2-----

Underneath the ground
You will always feed me from
The plateau of blood

3-----

He comes bearing fruit
Iron, rust in the juices
Loose poisons, strange thoughts

4-----

Phantom caravan
On the crossroads – trails severed
Heads on velvet ropes

5-----

Seventeen crows die
On the windowsill, staring
With eyes still seeing

6-----

Apathy, someday
Gin of retinal fluid
I sleep atop slaves

7-----

Queasy small fungi
Mildew with fervor in the
Sockets of my eyes

8-----

Subtle Gemini
Facial skin of fake vessel
Ogre in the mind

9-----

Tapeworm of cavern
Writhing in the clear plasma
Comes soaking fluid

10-----

Clock tower bell tolls
Dusk descends, and with it a
Factory dissolves

11-----

Grit on wet concrete
After-noise of neon lights
Death of persona

12-----

Unending digits
Hour of the suicide
π times dimension

13-----

Sweet mist of forest
The path to purgatory
Inviting and clear

14-----

In the near distance
Artichoke and nettle dress
Plains of memory

15-----

Red eye of spirit
Crypt of plastic valuables
Dream-fake oasis

16-----

Ballet of bile plague
Gallium in ribcage wounds
Dance until shot down

17-----

On the farthest shore
A hymn into a glass conch
To be cast adrift

18-----

Look, listen to the
Subterranean heaven
The void of always

19-----

Under the gutter
A trible of homunculi
Bred in quicksilver

20-----

Mechanized cradle
A fetishist, a savage
Who welds our eyes closed

21-----

The iron altar
Golden messiah looks down
With distant pity

22-----

Vampires of ice cream
Innocently, we melt down
To liquid bullets

23-----

Hyperactive dreams
Vibrant, writhing like maggots
His dreams crave live eyes

24-----

Snowfield, the quagmire
Music, orbital crystals
I hear clearly still

25-----

Naked, my grown son
Dies alongside my body
Plastic-faced men watch

26-----

Shackled to the tank
Drowned twins float in rainwater
Drift hypnotically

27-----

The sun-bleached hilltop
Overlooks thatched roofs, shore of
The depthless grey lake

28-----

King on steel wire throne
Speaks in mathematics only
Decays to blood rust

29-----

Core of gemstone frost
Haze of stone dust and childhood
Lost blind in blizzards

30-----

Shriek of Hell’s siren
Deaths measured in MHz
Incarnate torment

[Absolute Pressure]

31-----

Growing pitiful
Greyer by the hour, too
Starved of love to age

32-----

A brutal circus
Sensory torture is all
You give me these days

33-----

I dream the colour
Of grease and capillaries
The flipside of flesh

34-----

Give me transience,
Automated happiness
Give me my heaven

35-----

Choke to death on the
Many-fingered glutton, the
Surviving stomach

36-----

Sober darkness in
Which stews intrusive thoughts I
Cannot take pride in

37-----

Ritual death does
Not become me, for I have
No honor to lose

38-----

Martyrs in the rain
Unseen tears are spiderwebs
Filth on the dead child

39-----

Dispose of the shame
Lover blinded by the dark
Glister in the dawn

40-----

Silver in the vein
Scream mercury and white noise
Bleed to butterfly

41-----

Why does he murder?
Is it simply a dark night
Begging to taste death?

42-----

Pursuit of madness
Fear of the dolls underground
Judging in silence

43-----

January’s waste
An eerie serenity
A ghost fluorescence

44-----

Sorceress of steel
Glaze the frozen shards with oil
From an angel’s wing

45-----

A severed ghost head
Grinding the strings of plasma
In gears of the clock

46-----

Priest in cinnabar
Kneels before the tongue-cutter
Lurks in sly like war

47-----

Concerto of teeth
Interlude of barbed briar
Visions of starving

48-----

I am the lord of
Mute ravens and sodomy
Of splintered psyche

49-----

Perpetual trash -
Half of what I speak, never
To cross our distance

50-----

Lactic infection
Necrotic flesh on my veins
I am biotic.

51-----

This obsession drains
Empathy and chastity
From his sick body

52-----

The bandaged chasm
Where psychic subordinate
Turns the red-veiled valve

53-----

Changeless, broken realm
Buds from artless destruction
Our garden of pain

54-----

Tangled head of earth
The marsh god rapes jealous dreams
In turbid shallows

55-----

Meat horse and skewer
Fantasy ossuary
The grim, sizzling stench

56-----

House of arachnid
Silence, half-swallowed victims
Wriggle soundlessly

57-----

Pyrokinetic
Palm that sets the ground aflame
Scorching barren towns

58-----

Succumb to the ward
Alien physics, leather
Halls leading nowhere

59-----

Ballad of barbed gates
Execute me at the root
Of the mourning tree

60-----

Skirting razor’s edge
Puncture blood, fat, cochlea
Absolute pressure
